Move It or Lose It: Species Respond to a Warming World

In this activity students work in teams to examine a primary literature paper, understand statistical output, and interpret graphs. The paper provides crucial evidence on species shifts in latitude and elevation in response to climate change. Not only will students learn how to read and think critically, through discussion with their peers, they will also gain confidence in the ability to articulate their understanding of statistical output. In addition, they will discuss why some species may not be able to respond to climate change and what the consequences are for these species. Finally, they will be empowered by learning about the evidence for the effects of climate change.
